ICANN Registrar Transfer Dispute Resolution Policy
10Corp Web Services LLC • Effective: Monday, January 8, 2024
This page describes the ICANN Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy (IRTP) and how 10Corp Web Services LLC ("10Corp") implements it to handle disputes arising from domain name transfers between registrars.
The Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy (IRTP) governs the transfer of domain names between ICANN-accredited registrars and establishes the rights and obligations of registrars, gaining registrars, and registrants in the transfer process.
1. Overview of the IRTP
The ICANN Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy was established to create a standardized, fair, and transparent process for transferring domain names between registrars. The policy protects registrants from unauthorized transfers while ensuring that legitimate transfers can proceed efficiently. All ICANN-accredited registrars, including 10Corp, are bound by the IRTP.
2. When the IRTP Applies
The IRTP applies when a domain name is being transferred from 10Corp (as the losing registrar) to another ICANN-accredited registrar (the gaining registrar), or when 10Corp is the gaining registrar receiving a transfer from another registrar. The IRTP does not govern transfers within 10Corp between accounts.
3. Transfer Authorization Requirements
Under the IRTP, a valid domain transfer requires:
- A valid authorization code (EPP/Auth code) provided by the registrant;
- Confirmation from the registrant or administrative contact that the transfer is authorized;
- The domain must not be subject to a Registrar Lock, court order, or active dispute proceeding;
- The domain must not be within sixty (60) days of initial registration or a previous registrar transfer.
4. 10Corp's Transfer Authorization Process
When 10Corp receives a transfer request for a domain registered with us:
- 10Corp will send a transfer confirmation email to the registrant's email address on file;
- The registrant has five (5) days to explicitly approve or deny the transfer;
- If no response is received within five (5) days, the transfer proceeds automatically (deemed approval);
- If the registrant denies the transfer, 10Corp will reject the transfer request and notify the gaining registrar.
5. Grounds for Denying a Transfer
10Corp may deny a transfer request only on the following grounds permitted by ICANN:
- Evidence of fraud in the transfer request;
- The domain is subject to a court order or UDRP/URS proceeding freezing the domain;
- A reasonable dispute has been filed with 10Corp within the applicable dispute window;
- The domain is within sixty (60) days of creation or a previous registrar transfer;
- The domain is in "Registrar Lock" status (the registrant must unlock it to proceed);
- Non-payment of fees owed to 10Corp for the domain registration.
10Corp may not deny a transfer for any reason not listed above, including to retain a customer's business.
6. Filing a Transfer Dispute
If you believe a transfer of your domain was unauthorized, you must act quickly:
- Contact 10Corp immediately at domains@10corp.com or +1 (762) 233-3344;
- Provide the domain name, your account details, and a statement that the transfer was not authorized;
- See our Dispute On Transfer Away Form page for full instructions and the information required.
10Corp will initiate the IRTP dispute process with the gaining registrar and ICANN within two (2) business days of receiving a complete dispute submission.
7. IRTP Dispute Resolution Procedure
Under ICANN's IRTP dispute resolution procedure:
- The losing registrar (10Corp) submits a dispute to the gaining registrar within the prescribed timeframe;
- The gaining registrar must respond and provide evidence of a valid transfer authorization;
- If the gaining registrar cannot provide valid authorization, ICANN may direct the domain to be returned;
- If the parties cannot resolve the dispute, either party may escalate to ICANN's compliance department.
8. Registrar Lock (Transfer Lock)
10Corp strongly recommends enabling Registrar Lock on all domain names. When Registrar Lock is active, no transfer can be initiated without the registrant first unlocking the domain. You can manage Registrar Lock through your 10Corp account dashboard. Registrar Lock is the single most effective measure to prevent unauthorized transfers.
9. ICANN Compliance
If you believe 10Corp has violated the IRTP or any ICANN policy, you have the right to file a complaint directly with ICANN's Contractual Compliance department at icann.org/compliance.
