How to Change Your cPanel Password

Last Updated: 2025-01-01 2 min read

Regularly updating your cPanel password is a simple but important step in keeping your hosting account secure. You can change your password directly from the cPanel interface or through your hosting provider’s client portal.

Method 1: Changing Your Password from cPanel

  1. Log in to cPanel using your current credentials.
  2. In the top-right corner of the dashboard, click on your username or the user icon.
  3. Select Password & Security from the dropdown menu (or navigate to Preferences → Password & Security).
  4. In the Old Password field, enter your current password.
  5. In the New Password field, type your desired new password.
  6. Re-enter the new password in the Confirm New Password field.
  7. Use the Password Generator button if you want cPanel to create a strong, random password for you.
  8. Click Change your password now to save.

After the change, you will be logged out and must sign back in using your new password.

Method 2: Changing Your Password from the Client Portal

If you cannot access cPanel or prefer to manage your password from your hosting provider’s client area:

  1. Log in to your 10Corp client portal.
  2. Navigate to Services → My Services and select the relevant hosting plan.
  3. Look for a Change Password option in the hosting management section.
  4. Enter and confirm your new password, then save.

This method resets the cPanel password remotely and is especially useful if you have forgotten your current cPanel credentials.

Tips for a Strong Password

  • Use at least 12 characters combining uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
  • Avoid dictionary words, personal information, or reused passwords.
  • Consider using a password manager to generate and store complex passwords.
  • cPanel’s built-in password strength meter should show a rating of 65 or higher for adequate security.

Important Notes

  • Changing your cPanel password also updates your FTP password for the main account.
  • If you use email clients configured with your cPanel credentials, you will need to update them as well.
  • Some hosting providers enforce minimum password strength requirements — make sure your new password meets these standards.

If you run into issues changing your password, contact your hosting provider’s support team for assistance.
