Internal Domain Transfer Between Accounts
An internal transfer (also called an account-to-account transfer or push) moves a domain from one account to another within the same registrar. This does not involve changing registrars and is typically faster than a standard registrar transfer.
When You Need an Internal Transfer
Common scenarios include:
- Selling a domain to another person who also has an account at 10Corp.
- Moving domains between personal and business accounts.
- Transferring management to a client, partner, or web developer.
- Consolidating domains from multiple accounts into one.
How Internal Transfers Work at 10Corp
Step 1: Gather Account Information
The receiving account holder must provide their 10Corp account username or ID. Both parties should confirm they have active accounts.
Step 2: Initiate the Push
- Log in to the sending account at 10Corp.
- Navigate to Domains → My Domains.
- Select the domain you want to transfer.
- Look for Push Domain, Transfer to Another Account, or a similar option.
- Enter the receiving account’s username or ID.
- Confirm the transfer.
Step 3: Accept the Transfer
- The receiving account holder logs in to their 10Corp account.
- They will see a pending incoming transfer notification.
- They must accept the domain transfer to complete the process.
Key Differences from Registrar Transfers
| Feature | Internal Transfer | Registrar Transfer |
|---|---|---|
| EPP code required | No | Yes |
| Transfer lock applies | No | Yes |
| 60-day restriction | No | Yes |
| Transfer fee | Usually free | Typically includes 1-year renewal |
| Time to complete | Minutes to hours | 5–7 days |
| Changes registrar | No | Yes |
Important Considerations
- Domain settings such as DNS records, nameservers, and lock status typically remain unchanged after an internal transfer.
- WHOIS information should be updated by the new account holder after the transfer if the ownership details differ.
- Services tied to the domain (like hosting or email) may need to be reassigned or repurchased under the new account.
- Billing responsibility shifts to the receiving account for future renewals.
If the Option Is Not Available
If you do not see a push or internal transfer option, contact 10Corp support. Some domain extensions or account types may require manual processing.
