Getting Your Authorization (EPP) Code

An authorization code — also known as an EPP code, auth code, or transfer key — is a unique password assigned to your domain. It is required to authorize a domain transfer between registrars.

What Is an EPP Code?

The EPP (Extensible Provisioning Protocol) code is a security measure that ensures only the legitimate domain owner can authorize a transfer. Without this code, a transfer request will be rejected. Each domain has its own unique code.

How to Get Your EPP Code from 10Corp

  1. Log in to your 10Corp account.
  2. Navigate to Domains → My Domains.
  3. Select the domain you need the code for.
  4. Look for Authorization Code, EPP Code, or Transfer Key.
  5. Click the option to reveal or send the code.
  6. The code is typically emailed to the registrant’s email address on file.

Getting the Code from Other Registrars

Most registrars allow you to retrieve the EPP code through their control panel. Common locations include:

  • Domain settings or Domain management page
  • Transfer or Security section
  • A dedicated “Get Auth Code” button

Some registrars email the code automatically, while others display it directly in the dashboard. If you cannot find it, contact the registrar’s support team.

Important Details About EPP Codes

  • Codes are case-sensitive. Copy and paste them to avoid errors.
  • Codes may expire. Some registrars generate codes that are only valid for a limited time (usually 5–14 days). Request a new one if it expires.
  • One code per domain. Each domain has a unique authorization code.
  • Codes change after use. Once a transfer is completed, the old code is invalidated and a new one is generated.

Domains That Do Not Use EPP Codes

Certain domain extensions use alternative transfer methods:

  • .uk domains use an IPS tag system instead of EPP codes.
  • Some ccTLDs have their own transfer procedures set by the local registry.

Troubleshooting

Keep your EPP code confidential. Anyone with this code and access to the registrant email could potentially initiate a transfer.
