Domain Transfer Status and Tracking

After initiating a domain transfer, you can monitor its progress through your registrar’s dashboard. Here is how to track your transfer and understand each status.

How to Check Transfer Status at 10Corp

  1. Log in to your 10Corp account.
  2. Go to Domains → Transfers or Pending Transfers.
  3. Locate the domain in the list to view its current status.

Common Transfer Statuses

StatusMeaning
PendingTransfer has been submitted and is awaiting processing
Awaiting ApprovalA confirmation email has been sent; action required from the registrant
In ProgressThe transfer has been approved and is being processed between registrars
CompletedThe domain has been successfully transferred
FailedThe transfer was rejected or encountered an error
CancelledThe transfer was cancelled by the registrant or registrar

Transfer Timeline Breakdown

A typical transfer follows this timeline:

  1. Submission (Day 1) — You enter the domain and EPP code at the gaining registrar.
  2. Verification (Day 1–2) — The gaining registrar verifies the authorization code and submits a transfer request to the registry.
  3. Notification (Day 2–3) — The losing registrar notifies the registrant and may request approval or denial.
  4. Approval Window (Day 3–5) — The registrant approves the transfer. If no action is taken, most transfers auto-approve after five days.
  5. Completion (Day 5–7) — The registry completes the transfer and updates the registrar of record.

Email Notifications

During the transfer process, you may receive emails from both the losing and gaining registrar:

  • Transfer initiation confirmation from the gaining registrar
  • Transfer approval request from the losing registrar
  • Transfer completion notification from both registrars

Check your spam or junk folder if you do not see these emails.

What to Do If a Transfer Stalls

  • Verify approval emails — Check that you have responded to all required emails.
  • Contact the losing registrar — They may be holding the transfer pending additional verification.
  • Check domain status — Ensure the domain is still unlocked and the EPP code has not expired.
  • Contact 10Corp support — Our team can investigate the status from the gaining side.

Patience is important during transfers, as the process involves coordination between multiple parties and systems.
