Domain Suspension Policy

Last Updated: 2025-01-01 3 min read

What Is Domain Suspension?

Domain suspension is the temporary disabling of a domain name, preventing it from resolving to a website, sending or receiving email, or being transferred. A suspended domain remains registered but is non-functional until the underlying issue is resolved.

Reasons a Domain May Be Suspended

Inaccurate WHOIS Information

ICANN requires registrants to maintain accurate contact details. If you fail to verify your email address or provide false information, 10Corp is obligated to suspend the domain until verification is completed.

Failure to Respond to Verification

When you register a domain or update contact information, a verification email is sent to the registrant email address. If you do not confirm within the required timeframe (typically 15 days), the domain will be suspended.

A domain may be suspended as part of a Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceeding or in response to a valid court order.

Abuse or Policy Violations

Domains used for phishing, malware distribution, spam, fraud, or any activity that violates 10Corp’s Acceptable Use Policy may be suspended immediately to protect other users and the broader internet community.

Non-Payment

If your domain registration fees are not paid by the expiration date and the domain enters a hold status, it will stop functioning. This is distinct from suspension but has a similar effect.

Law Enforcement Request

In certain cases, law enforcement agencies may request the suspension of a domain involved in criminal activity. 10Corp cooperates with lawful requests in accordance with applicable regulations.

How to Resolve a Domain Suspension

Step 1: Identify the Reason

Check your email for notices from 10Corp or ICANN explaining the reason for the suspension. You can also log into your 10Corp account to review the domain status.

Step 2: Take Corrective Action

  • WHOIS verification — Complete the email verification process.
  • Policy violation — Remove the offending content or cease the prohibited activity, then contact support.
  • Payment issue — Renew the domain or update your payment method.
  • Dispute-related — Follow the instructions provided in the dispute notification.

Step 3: Contact 10Corp Support

If you are unsure why your domain was suspended or need assistance resolving the issue, contact the 10Corp support team. Provide your domain name and any relevant correspondence.

Timeframes

  • WHOIS verification suspensions are typically resolved within hours of completing verification.
  • Abuse-related suspensions may require a full review before the domain is reinstated.
  • Dispute-related suspensions remain in place until the proceeding concludes.

Prevention

  • Keep your WHOIS information accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor your registrant email for verification and compliance notices.
  • Follow 10Corp’s Acceptable Use Policy at all times.
  • Renew your domain well before the expiration date.
