This page describes the process for disputing an unauthorized or erroneous transfer of a domain name away from your 10Corp account, and the form you must complete to initiate a transfer dispute investigation.
1. What Is a Transfer Away Dispute?
A "transfer away dispute" occurs when a domain name registered through 10Corp has been transferred to another registrar without your authorization, or when a transfer was initiated in error. 10Corp takes unauthorized domain transfers seriously and will investigate all valid disputes promptly.
2. Time Limits for Filing a Dispute
You must file a transfer away dispute as soon as possible after discovering the unauthorized transfer. ICANN's Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy requires disputes to be initiated promptly. In most cases, disputes should be filed within 180 days of the transfer date. Disputes filed outside this window may be subject to reduced remedies depending on the registry and gaining registrar's policies.
3. How to File a Transfer Away Dispute
To initiate a transfer away dispute, contact 10Corp's domain dispute team with all of the following information:
- Your full legal name and 10Corp account email address;
- The domain name(s) subject to the dispute;
- The approximate date you discovered the unauthorized transfer;
- A statement affirming that you did not authorize the transfer and did not receive a valid transfer authorization request;
- Any supporting evidence you have (e.g., lack of authorization email, suspicious account activity);
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Submit your dispute to: Email: domains@10corp.com with subject line "Transfer Away Dispute '€” [your domain name]" | Phone: +1 (762) 233-3344
4. 10Corp's Investigation Process
Upon receiving a complete dispute submission, 10Corp will:
- Acknowledge receipt of your dispute within two (2) business days;
- Review account access logs, authorization records, and transfer history;
- Contact the gaining registrar to initiate a transfer dispute under ICANN's Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy;
- Provide you with regular updates on the investigation status;
- Cooperate with ICANN and applicable registry dispute resolution procedures.
5. Securing Your Account
If you believe your account was compromised to enable an unauthorized transfer, take the following steps immediately:
- Change your 10Corp account password;
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) if not already active;
- Review and revoke any unrecognized API keys or authorized applications;
- Check your registered email account for security and change its password if necessary;
- Contact 10Corp support at +1 (762) 233-3344 for immediate account security assistance.
6. ICANN Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy
Domain transfer disputes between registrars are governed by ICANN's Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy (IRTP). Under this policy, the gaining registrar must respond to a transfer dispute within a specified timeframe. If the gaining registrar confirms the transfer was unauthorized, 10Corp will work to have the domain returned. However, 10Corp cannot guarantee the return of a domain transferred to another registrar, as the outcome depends on the cooperation of the gaining registrar and applicable registry policies.
7. UDRP for Trademark Disputes
If your dispute involves a trademark claim rather than an unauthorized transfer, please refer to the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) page for the appropriate dispute resolution process.
8. Limitation of Liability
10Corp implements industry-standard security measures to protect domain registrant accounts. However, 10Corp is not liable for unauthorized transfers resulting from: your failure to maintain secure account credentials; compromise of your registered email account; or actions of third parties outside 10Corp's reasonable control. 10Corp will use commercially reasonable efforts to assist in the recovery of an unauthorized transfer but cannot guarantee recovery.
9. Prevention Tips
To protect your domain registrations from unauthorized transfers:
- Enable Registrar Lock (transfer lock) on all your domains through your account dashboard;
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your 10Corp account;
- Use a strong, unique password for your 10Corp account and registered email;
- Never share your account credentials or transfer authorization codes (EPP/Auth codes) with anyone;
- Keep your account contact email address current and secure.
